& Let It Ride is in partnership with
Just Chilln- B.E.S.T.,
is seeking passionate program graduates for the Alumni
Leadership Council to improve youth prevention and programs at
CTC. Also, to ensure that programs are up to date with work
base learning, environmental and aquatic skills.
The
L.I.R/HOFNOD
Leadership Council
is composed of ten dynamic young adults’ ages 21+ from
throughout the States who support and promote prevention,
aquatic education, and environmental careers. Working closely
with the Alumni relations director, council members
will help support and develop strategies to advocate for
comprehensive environmental skills, health promotion, and AOD
prevention.
Utilizing the power of youth activism along with strategies
such as media mobilization, policymaker education, grassroots
organizing, and more, the Council will work together to create
significant policy changes during the 2011-2012 year and
challenge the general culture.
The time commitment is approximately 4-5 hours per month and
Council Members will develop an alumni directory.
General Position Responsibilities
Each council member will be required to:

Attend and actively participate in monthly and/or scheduled
meetings (teleconferences/electronically).
·
Attend and participate in retreats and trainings facilitated
by CTC and Advocates for Youth, including
annual
camping trip at Geneva State Park, fathers day weekends
yearly.
·
Actively organize and participate in outreach and advocacy
efforts to local media, policy makers and community members
·
Submit at least one story for newsletter to the editor.
·
Submit stories for blogs every month for website related to
program
·
Participate in summer program
Job Qualifications
·
Young adult, age 21 and over
·
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
·
Proficient in the use of “viral technology” tools, such as
social network websites (Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube),
listservs, email, etc.
·
Ability to
respectfully work with a wide range of groups and individuals
·
Good communication
skills
·
Well organized
·
Enjoy helping others (youth)
·
Enjoy outdoor activities
·
Enjoy music theater, creative writing, and video production
(media literacy skills)

Leadership Council holds a high level of expectations for all
members on the Council.
Please find below a more detailed description of the
expectations and requirements of Council Members.

Attend and participate
in retreats and trainings facilitated by
L.I.R/HOFNOD;
·
Attend
and participate in a meeting September 8, 2011.
If you are not
able to attend the training, please DO NOT submit your
application because we will not be able to accept you to
the Council; (Unless approved otherwise)
·
Ability to respond to emails and phone calls within 48
hours in most cases.
If you are not able to access the internet on a
regular basis, please be sure to indicate
what other types of work you are willing to do for
the project;
· Facilitate presentations and
discussions on programming and other outlet for youth in
your community;
· Attend and
actively participate in monthly and/or scheduled meetings
over the phone or in person;
· Recruit and mobilize youth participate in
activities
· Organize and participate in
advocacy efforts with council members, and CTC
members;
·
Submit one letter to
the editor or op-ed newsletter;
·
Engage other youth through new technology, especially
social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, video blogging,
etc)

paperwork i. e, media releases, etc.
